About Me

Here, you can learn more about me, and my decade-plus career in the storytelling business.

Jim Rosenthal

Who am I?

It's a question I ask myself on a daily basis but if I had to sum myself up in one word, it would be a Storyteller.

My storytelling journey started while I trained to become a journalist at college in 2013 for an indie Asian newspaper. From there, I caught the bug for storytelling and I've not lost my love for creating content and stories.

Two degrees at Birmingham City University later and they have given me opportunities to develop my multiplatform storytelling skills. From SEO to digital content, social media, data journalism and more, the story always comes first no matter what medium I use to tell it.

A snapshot of my career in journalism, data, communications and marketing

Where do I begin? My career has been a squiggly line for the past 10+ years. It started as a journalist and then moved into other industries, including PR, digital marketing, communications and data analytics.

Among the many companies I've worked with include Journo Resources, HuffPost UK, Computer Business Review, The Economist, Space Data and more.

I've relished the opportunity to plan media briefings for the local press, report at global conferences or cover big sporting events in my career. It's about helping brands and publishers tell stories that inform and change public perception while holding people in power to account.

My hobbies and interests outside the storytelling business

When I'm not telling stories, you'll find me in the gym, swimming pool or lake swimming for Birmingham Masters Swimming Club.

In fact, I competed for Birmingham Masters at a national level at the 2024 Swim England Open Water Masters National Championships in Sheffield. Alongside that, I've swum in many open water swimming events, both with a wetsuit and without a wetsuit.

Alongside my swimming and fitness obsessions, I am a rock and roll aficionado, as well as a 90's and early 00's pop music enthusiast. Did I forget to tell you, my favourite film is the British gangster film classic The Long Good Friday?
